About Muskegon State Park
Muskegon State Park covers 1,233 acres on a strip of land between Lake Michigan and Muskegon Lake, just north of P.J. Hoffmaster State Park. The land was once a lumber mill site before the Civilian Conservation Corps and Works Progress Administration built out its roads, trails, and beach in the 1930s and 40s — work that's still visible in the stone Blockhouse overlook at the park's highest point.

The Luge Track, Blockhouse & Snug Harbor
The Muskegon Winter Sports Complex is the park's signature draw in colder months — a real luge track where Olympian Mark Grimmette trained, plus sledding, ice skating, and cross-country ski trails, all open to the public. In warmer months, the replica Blockhouse sits atop the highest point in Muskegon County with sweeping views of both lakes, and Snug Harbor offers a protected spot to launch a boat or cast a line on Muskegon Lake.

Hookups and Amenities
Both campgrounds offer 30/50-amp electric service; many Lake Michigan Campground sites also have water and sewer hookups. Both campgrounds have modern restroom and shower buildings.
Beach & Boat Access
The park has both a Lake Michigan beach and Muskegon Lake access at Snug Harbor, which includes a boat launch and fishing pier — useful if you want calmer water than the open lake.
Pets
Pets are allowed on a 6-foot leash throughout the campground and along the Lake Michigan shoreline outside the designated swim area. Owners are required to clean up after their pets.
