About Sleepy Hollow State Park
Sleepy Hollow State Park covers 2,600 acres of rolling mid-Michigan countryside centered on the 410-acre Lake Ovid, about 20 minutes northeast of Lansing near Laingsburg. It's a favorite for central Michigan campers who want a lake to paddle and fish without driving to the coast.
The modern campground offers 180 electric sites, plus two cabins — one rustic and one modern, both pet- and equine-friendly — and a group-use area. The campground and shelters recently reopened following renovations, and there's a beach area with a swim zone and playground close by.
Things to Do
Lake Ovid is the park's centerpiece, with four fishing piers, a kayak launch, and boat access on a no-wake lake that's easygoing for beginners. Equestrians get 12-plus miles of dedicated trails with a staging area, and mountain bikers and hikers share a separate trail network through the park's hardwood forest. An 18-hole disc golf course rounds out the recreation options.
Best Time to Visit
Summer is peak season for the beach and lake activities, while spring and fall bring cooler weather for the equestrian and mountain bike trails. The campground typically operates April through November.

Getting There
The park sits just off I-69 near Laingsburg, about 20 minutes from Lansing and an easy detour for anyone traveling US-127 through mid-Michigan.
