About Sleeper State Park
Sleeper State Park sits near Caseville on the Lake Huron side of Michigan's Thumb, with a 226-site modern campground shaded by oaks and pines. At 723 acres, it's one of the larger camping destinations on the Thumb's Lake Huron coastline, and most sites are generously sized compared to the region's smaller parks.
Every site offers 30- or 50-amp electric service, plus a sanitation station for RVs. Four ADA-accessible sites sit near accessible facilities on the west end, and an ADA-accessible mini cabin sleeps five for non-tent campers. Free WiFi, a playground, and an on-site concession or store round out the amenities.
Things to Do
Sleeper's Lake Huron shoreline and shaded campground make it a comfortable base for a Thumb-area beach trip, with Caseville's small-town restaurants and shops just a short drive away. The park's location on the Thumb also puts it within reach of Port Crescent State Park and the Pointe aux Barques lighthouse further up the coast.
Best Time to Visit
Summer is peak beach season on this stretch of Lake Huron, with the oak-and-pine shade making Sleeper more comfortable than open, sun-exposed campgrounds during hot stretches. The campground typically operates April through November.
Reservation Tips
Sleeper draws steady traffic from the Saginaw and Flint areas but is generally easier to book than the more famous Thumb-tip parks. Reserve through MiDNRReservations.com within the 6-month window, particularly for the pull-through sites if you're bringing a larger RV.
Getting There
The park is just outside Caseville on the Lake Huron side of the Thumb, about 2.5 hours north of Detroit and a scenic drive up M-25 along the shoreline.
