Bewabic State Park sits on Fortune Lake near Crystal Falls in Iron County, in the western Upper Peninsula. It's a genuinely off-the-radar park — quiet, wooded, and built around a modern three-loop campground with direct ORV trail access, a rarity among Michigan's shoreline-focused state parks.
The campground has 130 sites across three loops (A, B, and C), with shady, wooded sites and privacy between most locations. Electrical service is standard, with 50-amp available on select sites, plus four rustic walk-in sites (within 125 yards of the parking lot) for tent campers who want to skip the RV loops. A recently renovated shower building and two-lane sanitation station round out the amenities.
Things to Do
ORV riders can access nearby trails directly from the campground — a genuine draw for UP off-roaders who don't want to trailer between camp and the trailhead. Fortune Lake itself has a swimming beach and typical inland-lake recreation. The park's location near Crystal Falls also puts it within striking distance of the broader Iron County ORV and snowmobile trail network.
Best Time to Visit
Summer brings the best lake weather for swimming, while ORV season extends well into fall. The campground typically operates April through November.
