Common Questions About CampDrop

Your alert automatically deactivates in two situations: when a matching site is found and the SMS is sent, or when your arrival date passes with no match found. You are never charged extra for an alert that expired. Set a new alert anytime.
No. MittenCamper watches reservation systems and sends you an SMS alert when a matching site opens. You click the link in the text, go directly to MiDNRReservations.com or Recreation.gov, and complete your own booking. We are not affiliated with the Michigan DNR or any park agency.
CampDrop scans MiDNRReservations.com and Recreation.gov every 60 seconds for both Spark and Blaze subscribers — there is no priority tier. You will get a text within a minute of a cancellation appearing. At popular parks like Ludington, cancellations can rebook in 2–5 minutes, so speed matters.
CampDrop tells you the moment a cancellation happens — but we can't make one happen. Some parks and dates, especially popular summer weekends, can go a full alert window without a single cancellation. If that happens, you simply won't get a text, and that's not a bug — it means nobody gave up their site. You can extend your alert, try a different park, or use Pause Mode if you want to step back without cancelling.
Yes — your monthly subscription continues regardless of whether your alert triggered. The subscription is for access to the scanning service, not per alert. Think of it like a gym membership. Use Pause Mode to pause your plan in winter at zero cost.
Pause Mode lets you pause your monthly subscription during the off-season — typically October through April. While paused you pay nothing. Your account stays active, all settings are saved, and you resume with one click when camping season starts. To pause, go to mittencamper.com/account/ and click "View My Alerts," then hit Pause on any alert. Spark and Blaze members can also manage billing from "Manage Subscription" on the same page. If you're on the free plan, there's no subscription to pause — use "View My Alerts" to pause or cancel your free alert directly.
Yes. Blaze plan covers both MiDNRReservations.com for Michigan DNR state parks and Recreation.gov for national parks and lakeshores including Sleeping Bear Dunes and Pictured Rocks. Spark covers MiDNR only.
Yes, cancel anytime from your account settings with no penalty. Your alerts remain active through the end of your current billing period. If you want to pause rather than cancel, use Pause Mode instead — it is free to pause and you keep your account and settings.
